The sample is serum (3-5 ml clotted blood ).

Significance

Patients has Hepatitis B virus infection where hepatitis B surface antigen appears in the circulation.In case of recovery Antibody against these antigens appears in the blood.

This is the marker of recovery from the Hepatitis B virus. When positive it means that patient has recovered from the disease.

Result
Presence of Anti-Hbs Antibody indicate immunity to Hepatitis B viral infection.
